Q: I need an appointment today:
A:  Give us a call.   Please do NOT wait until late in the afternoon to call us with concerns you may have in the A.M. We will address your concerns and schedule you an appropriate appointment for that day.   This call will ensure your  needs will be met efficiently. Anyone calling after 3:00 p.m. may have to be scheduled on the following day.  The last acute sick appointments are 4:30, so please do not wait until 4:30 to call us.  We have a specialized scheduling system for appointments so Dr. Kiluk can give you undivided attention with little or no wait time between patients.

Q: I have a question for the nurse or doctor, how do I call in?
A:  Call in with child's name and age, tell us your concerns regarding your child and  you would like a nurse to call you back.  We will forward your question to the nurse & she will triage to the doctor and get back to you as soon as she can.  If it has been more than an hour you need to call us back.  The number you leave is important, it must be a number you will be at "waiting" as soon as she calls.  This prevents "phone-tag" all day.  She is working with other patients in the office and cannot stop to take calls as they come in. So please don't call and ask for the nurse or doctor.  They cannot leave patients to take calls.  If it is a true emergency- when the call is answered by our office you need to state "this is an emergency"- state child's name, age and problem - they will forward to person to handle emergencies or  IN SOME CASES:  tell you to hang up and dial 911 or go straight to the ER.

Q: How far in advance can I schedule my child's Yearly Physical or Meds Appts?
A:  We schedule appointments up to three months in advance.  Schedule your next well-child appointment before you leave the office.   Appointments for well-child check-ups (or physical exams) fill up quickly, as well as, ADHD appointments.   ADHD medications will not be refilled without appt., so please be aware of your child's medication and your appointments. Please do not wait until you have one pill left.  Dr Kiluk cannot call these types of medications in by phone.
THESE APPOINTMENTS ARE NOT EASY TO “RE-SCHEDULE”.
A PARENT MUST ALWAYS be present for ADHD appointments & Physicals.

Do Not Wait Until Your Child Needs a Sports Form  for school to find out you are NOT up-to-date on your child's physical.  Please call and ask us if your child is up to date. We will gladly schedule you one ahead of time. Please have all sports/camps/school forms completely filled out with your information before dropping off at our office.  Dr. Kiluk cannot sign off on forms unless they are completed by parent.

Q:  Do you accept walk-in appointments?
A:   Oceanside Pediatrics does not encourage "walk-ins".  A call to our office will allow our staff to prepare for your appointment 'time'.  This ensures your needs will be met efficiently.  If a patient presents to our office without a pre-scheduled appointment we have the following protocol:  a nurse will assess the patient and based on the assessment, assign you an immediate appointment if she deems a medical emergency or if she assesses your child to be stable and able to wait, offer you the next available  acute appointment.  You may need to leave and come back for scheduled time, so please call ahead and we will  accommodate  you and your child.

Q: What is my financial responsibility at my visit?
A:   Your insurance is a contract between you and your carrier.  While we will make every effort to obtain payment for the services we provide from your insurance carrier, it is your responsibility to understand your plan benefits and to pay for all services rendered.
Co-pays will be collected at check-in.  If co-pays are not met we will need to reschedule  the appointment.
If we do not have a contract with your carrier you will be treated as a self-pay for each visit and we can  file your insurance for you, but that doesn't guarantee they will pay.  You need to contact your carrier regarding your concerns.
Self-pay patients will be charged same rates as insured patients.

Q:  Who do I call after hours?
A:   Our after hours number is 808-6012.
Call our office during work hours from  8:00 am - 5:00 pm at  622-4448.
Call 911 in a true emergency.
We will also have a pre-recorded message on our answering machine with information regarding hours, phone numbers and Sat. Hours. This is not a place to call and leave questions regarding your child.
Call the answering service at 808-6012 they will contact the Doctor ‘on call’ for that evening.
**State your 'child's name', age, acute problem and any medications you may have already given the child/always take a temperature/and know a pharmacy number to give the doctor when they return your call. Please stay near the phone you called from and answered it ready with information regarding your child.**

Q: How do I cancel an existing appointment?  What if I miss my appointment?
A:  We value your time, so as a courtesy to us and others who may need that time, please call to cancel your appointment.  We need at least 24 hours cancellation time on scheduled appointments.  This will open up time for us to schedule an 'acute sick' child.  If you have 'no showed'  an appointment more than once you will be charged  a $45.00 office charge, which must be paid before we can schedule any more appointments for your child or siblings.  Future appointments will be removed from the schedule until paid.  We realize there are emergencies and unexpected circumstances, so please call as soon as you can to cancel or re-schedule.  After 2 no-shows for prolonged appointments you will be dismissed as a patient of Dr. Kiluk's,  as well as all siblings.

Q:  What types of Insurance do you accept at this time?
A:   We accept all types of   BCBS, (State & Federal),  Medicaid, NC Health-Choice  &  Tri-Care Standard & Prime, (if you are Tri-care Prime please check that Dr. Kiluk is listed as your primary caregiver), United Health, MedCost,  Aetna  &  Cigna.
Please 'understand' your insurance coverage.  If you are not sure what it covers call them & check with them to understand what your  out-of- pocket costs may be.  Please call us if you have any questions regarding billing.
